Parade discussion:
Parade comments from Dr. Mark Munchel:
Pros’
– I definitely feel like this year has been the easiest year yet in terms of organization and execution
– Attendance was the highest I’ve seen, based on my visual perspective.
– The extra leaf blowers at the end were very helpful for cleaning up the parking lot, and shout out to Nicole’s family for bringing them.
Cons:
– A couple of the radios weren’t communicating both ways
– When the parade first started, we still had a couple vehicles trying to come though and the motorcycle cop had to stop them and make them turn down one of the side streets. Next year I think we should just check with the police that both sides of the start and end of the parade are blocked before starting.
Other Parade suggestions:
The suggestion to have a food truck festival to follow the parade was raised as well as having prizes for best float. Prizes are a way to up the game on the floats and entice more entries. To fund the prizes proceeds from food trucks can be used. Food for thought!
