Bright Parade Discussion
- Tonya Wolfe-Preferred Rate Mortgage, presented thank you cards to be signed by attending members on behalf of Bright Fire, Dearborn County Highway Department and Dearborn County Sheriff for their assistance with the success of the parade. Thank you Tonya.
- We had a good turnout with not as many political entrants with 65 floats.
- Runners: Suggestion was raised to have entrants complete an online form of their name and announcement. Each entrant will get a number to attach to their vehicle and a corresponding number will be placed by their name/announcement. Late entrants will be given a form to complete and a corresponding number for their vehicle. The online forms and late entrants will be handed to the Emcee before the start of the parade. They may have to do some shuffling of papers, but there should be sufficient time between announcements. Jeannette will add the form to the Membership Works portion of the website and include a link on the Mailchimp Newsletter for quick access.
- Issues to address for next year
- Float entrants using the south side entrance to the church and driving behind the building; preference is to use the northern entrance, closest to the Shell station.
- Continued issues with the Bright Stars using the driveway entrance to practice. Suggestion is to use yellow caution tape to block off both sides of drive so that floats can drive through without danger of injuring anyone and to keep the flow of traffic moving.
- Next year they are requesting more help for cleanup. In the past the Boy Scouts participated, but apparently not this year. On a positive note, most people handed out candy so there was a lot less pick-up of left over and ground into the road candy.
- Road Closures: Suggestion was raised to post road closures on personal Facebook pages to get the information out to more people to help eliminate traffic backups and bottlenecks.
