August 9, 2013

I.  Call to order

Meeting was called to order by Kate Karaus, Membership Chairman, at 8:00 AM. The Gathering Place, 1932 Jamison Road / Bright, IN (Hands & Feet Ministry) hosted by Jacob Mansfield

President Bebe Kinnett and VP Mike Raftery, both were out of town.

Several new attendees today:
Connie Cleary (Dearborn County Chamber & Visitors Center)
Diane Wilson (George’s Pharmacy)  which is now officially open.
Rhonda Holscher (Rhonda’s Virtual Office)
Lori Enright (Eagle 99.3 FM Radio)

Terry Hahn (Merchants Bank)

Treasurer’s Report by Dan Cross–checking account balance is $2,088.00   The May Golf Tournament raised $5,769.58.  The July Bright Festival raised $3,060.00

Donation checks were cut as follows:
The Bright Volunteer Fire Department         $ 7,000.00
Hands & Feet Ministry                 $ 1,260.00
North Dearborn Food Pantry             $    500.00

Membership Report by Kate Karaus—membership dues are continuing to be received.  There are still some due.  Follow up is being done and invoices have been emailed or delivered.
New Member is “Just For Pets Place” located at 24495 State Line Rd, Lawrenceburg, IN 47025 (located in Bright)  Phone Number 812-637-8000.  Owner is Carol Bamberger.

Website Report by Kate Karaus (in Bebe’s absence)—Members need to get their company / business logos onto the Directory listing.  It enhances the directory immensely.  The member can upload their logo or Kate will be glad to assist.      Email your logo to Kate Karaus  kate.karaus@fuse.net .  Members are encouraged to link their Directory listing to Facebook and LinkedIn.

Bright Festival Report by Diane Bender, Festival Chairman—-there were 34 donated baskets this year to bid on in our booth at the festival.  Our booth raised $3,060.00 during the two day event.  This money along with a portion from the Golf Tournament was donated to the Bright Volunteer Fire Department & EMS     ($7,000.00).  A formal “big check” presentation was done on stage on Saturday night of the festival weekend.  This was presented to Tom Stevens of the Fire Department.

Meeting  Program

Jacob Mansfield of The Gathering Place (Hands & Feet Ministry) hosted this month’s BABA meeting.  Jacob spoke about their business, mission and vision of The Gathering Place.  Currently The Gathering Place is open Friday, Saturday and Sundays operating with a light menu and also providing support group guidance to recovering addicts.  Their goal is to be open all week and will have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu available at that time.  In addition to the restaurant / bistro, their long range goal is to open a full recovery program and provide enhanced support for addicts.

The Gathering Place provided a light breakfast for the group this morning consisting of fresh fruit, biscuits and gravy along with freshly brewed coffee.

Each attendee was given time to introduce themselves and their company / business.

Jim Mansfield offered a testimonial to BABA.  Jim expressed his sincere gratitude for all     the great friendships that have developed for him from his association with the people of BABA.  Jim said that the members are some of the greatest people he knows and deals with professionally and socially.

Jim Mansfield is our Media Chairman.  He shared that BABA now has a Twitter Account.  It is  @bizinbright

Dale Lutz and Jim Kinnett also shared praise for the organization and its members.

Kate Karaus thanked everyone for attending and encouraged people to get food and network.
