The coupon page needs updating.
The evening meeting was a success. Bebe asked whether we wanted to continue with evening meetings monthly, quarterly, or how often? A reminder that we can hold meetings at the Merchant Bank’s Community room. The meeting room can seat up to 50 people, depending on how you set the room up for a meeting. There are 6 tables, 24 chairs, a kitchen and bathrooms available to the Bright Community for their use. There is parking available, too. Pat Sullivan spoke up and said we could also have meetings at the HVL meeting facility.
b.) Vice President- None
c.) Membership –Diane Bender we have two new members: We have around 40 members which is up from 34 members last year.
d.) Treasurer’s report –Dan Cross gave an informal report. We had income of $100 for 2 new members and no disbursements.
e.) Golf Outing–Greg Gronwall has been working on the golf outing.
f.) Programs–Greg Gronwall introduced Pat Sullivan from HVL Golf Course to talk about several ways to raise money for our golf outing to benefit the Bright Fire Department and the EMT Division.
V. Open issues & New Business
Pat Sullivan, Manager of the HVL Golf Course, had many ideas of how we could raise more money and how our donation to the Bright Fire Department and EMT Division could be more. Pat said by switching from a weekend to a weekday could net more. He stated how the Diabetes Cancer Association last year made around $9,000 and he can help us earn more than we earned last year by changing a few things. Some ideas were: charge more per team where some of the money could toward prizes, changing the day from weekend to a weekday, having a silent auction, door prizes, charge for red T’s and many more ideas to make money. Pat has experience with many golf outings and is willing to help us make this a success.
Pat suggested to begin the golf outing at 1 pm, which would allow most people to work a half day. Also, he said to have a grill going to feed the golfers at 1 and 5 pm. HVL Golf Course would give us a free membership to raffle away. Planning the golf outing this way has increased golfer’s to play in the past.
Paul Kunkle added that the Chamber held a scramble their last year and it was very successful.
It was agreed that we would have our Bright Area Business Association Golf Scramble on Monday, May 21, 2012. We thought it best to be earlier rather than later in the year, as most days have already been chosen.
We want to thank you, Greg, for inviting Pat who is quite knowledgeable about “golf outings” to help us raise more money for the Bright Fire Department and EMT Division. Jim Mansfield said that he would help as his time allows.
Dan spoke up that we may have to change our status to a 503c if we would raise over $5,000. We all felt this would be a great inconvenience to have.
Bebe suggested we allow Greg $200 for Golf outing expenses. We had an unanimous yes vote.
Next meeting will be at 8:00 am, Friday March 9, 2012 at the Beacon.
