The meeting was opened by President Bebe Kinnett. Wayne Leslie led the Pledge of Allegiance. Introductions went around the room. Those in attendance are listed below.
Lori Enright introduced guest speaker Jane Yorn, the director of Safe Passage. Jane spoke about how the organization began and how it’s grown into a service in six counties. They serve about 1000 people annually, with Dearborn County accounting for one third. Jane spoke to business owners about how to recognize and deal with any person with a domestic violence problem in the workplace. They offer free services and have bee around for 21 years.
Dale Lutz will host the next meeting on March 8 at the Auction Center at 6:30pm. Dale with teach us how to register, bid and pay for items bought at the mini auction. Everyone should bring something to be auctioned off and all proceeds will benefit Safe Passage.
Doris Gibbons approved the minutes. 2nd by Lori Enright.
Wayne Leslie reported the balance in BABA account to be $6451.61
Membership list is updated with 41 paid members.
Debby Stutz is posting weekly on the BABA Facebook page. She passed around a signup sheet for those businesses who want to be featured on weekly posts.
Jim Kinnett reported that the levels of Sponsorship have been established for joint sponsorships for the golf outing and the BABAQ. The golf outing is May 21 at Hidden Valley Golf Club. More sponsors are needed as well as golfers.
An informational meeting for the BABAQ will be March 14, 6:30/At The Barn Winery. Anyone interested in helping plan the event is invited to attend.
Cindy Nixon is planning a 5K to precede the BABAQ on October 13. She will continue to work on brochures to establish the value of being a BABA member.
BABA was represented at the Mardi Gras Gala, hosted by Children’s Advocacy Center. Those in attendance were Jim and Bebe Kinnett, Jason and Lisa Cox, Don and Debby Stutz, Dan and Joyce Cross, Mike and Doris Gibbons, Cindy Nixon, and Steve Matthews. BABA paid ½ ticket price for Officers. The Gala raised $136,000 for the Advocacy Center. It was a fun networking event and it was determined that the BABA table was the most fun.
