Bright Night Concert Summer Music Event

  • First event was Friday, May 10
  • Three food trucks, all BABA members:
    • Chad Barrett (Quad Que)
    • Carlena Lockhart (Mingles Soft Serve)
    • Vitor Abreu (Vitor’s Bistro)
  • Music by Craig Quick
  • Food Trucks 6-10, Music 7-9
  • 10% of the food truck sales will come back to BABA for donation to local non-profits at the end of the year
  • Future music on the 2nd Friday of month
    • June 14 with Steve Fischer
    • July 12 with Josh Wells
    • Possibly add July 27 after the Bright Parade
    • August 9 with Steve Fischer

New Business

Golf Outing Review

  • 17 teams played this year
  • Beautiful day
  • Grab & go lunch worked well
  • Separate person to collect for Gold Tees, Mulligans and Registration.
  • Add sign that says how much they are
  • Set up Venmo account for those that don’t have cash
  • Idea of sponsorship for bag and towel for those that don’t have giveaways to add to the golfer’s goodie bag

Bright Night Concert Summer Music Event

  • After the first concert on May 10, I saw many good reviews on Facebook
  • There was a decent crowd and the music & food were good
  • We paid $200 for music and received $246 from the food trucks which was 10% of their profits.
  • Our second Bright Night Concert is tonight!
  • Three food trucks from 6-10:
    • Carlena Lockhart (Mingles Soft Serve)
    • Vitor Abreu (Vitor’s Bistro)
    • SnackDaddy Pizza (from HVL)
  • Music by Steve Fisher who will play from 6-9

Bright Parade

  • Saturday, July 27
    • Setup 7:30am
    • Line up 9:00am – 10:00am
    • Starts at 11:00am
  • The Grand Marshalls for this year’s parade will be Kenzie & Patty Bentle
    • Kenzie lead East Central marching band for many years during it’s heyday
    • The Beacon just had a wonderful write up about him
    • I’ve seen great remarks on Facebook from former students
  • Posts on Facebook through the Bright Community Parade page. Lots are excited, many are still asking why there isn’t going to be a festival. Not going to answer those comments.
  • Bright Christian Church has agreed to let us use their parking lot as a staging area the morning of the parade
  • The Scouts have offered to be the Color Guard again this year. This will be Cub Scouts Pack 693, Scouts BSA Boys Troop 693, and Scouts BSA Girls Troop 1693 of Bright Indiana.
  • The date of JULY 27 is confirmed and approved by the county commissioners for road closure purposes
  • The BEACON donated an ad in the current issue of The BEACON to the Bright Parade
  • AJ Hastings will be leading the parade as a motorcycle officer per usual. Not sure if anyone will be riding with him this year
  • Terry Hahn and Mike Dermody will be emcees
    • Terry will acquire a backup pa system for us to use
    • Jay Tucker can help with this if we need one
  • We offered the convertible for the Grand Marshalls from Maxine Laugle
  • Dale will take care of the road closed signs the Sunday morning prior to the parade
  • Dale will take care the magnetic car plaques
  • Tonya might be able to do the library plaque
  • First Financial
    • Will keep lobby open for a Cool Down Zone with water & snacks
    • Games for kids
    • We can use power from First Financial for the stage
    • Will advertise on the digital sign
  • Check on the radios that Doug Oldham….he’s not doing it anymore
    • Maybe use the walkie talkie app?
    • Rick Probst, donated radios to Bright Lions, which have been reconditioned and we’re able to use them for the parade. Thank you for the donation, Rick Probst!
  • Encourage local businesses to do customer appreciation after the parade
  • Looking for volunteers to help with the efforts
  • Lots of people already calling about how to join the parade
  • Tonya is printing the flyers and members can drop off at businesses to hang in their storefront
