Meeting Minutes
July 8, 2011
I. Call to order
Bebe Kinnett called to order the regular meeting of the Bright Area Business Association at 8:06 am on July 8, 2011 at The Beacon in Bright, Indiana.
II. Roll call
The following people were in attendance: Dan Cross, Dan Cross CPA; Diane Bender, Logan Supermart; Jim Kinnett, TKCG; Peggy Waltz, The Beacon; Celeste Calvitto, The Beacon; Greg Gronwell, ACN; Charlie Blankenship, Carousel Cleaners; and Bebe Kinnett, Absolute Web Designs. Several members were on vacation during this holiday week.
III. Approval of minutes from last meeting
Minutes had been distributed by email and posted on the web site. Minutes were approved.
IV. Leadership Team Reports
a.) President, Bebe Kinnett — The Bright Area Businesses Association website had over 267 visitors in the past month which is well above average. About 30{7b8c989abf756bf7ce1f89de0a7bd15766f0afcab20f44905b10f83f92dee193} of them staying on the website 5 seconds to 5 minutes. The Bright Festival led the website viewing with numerous visitors interested in the festivals dates and activities offered. Thanks to Charlie Blankenship for arranging a spot on the Chamber Minute on Eagle Radio last week. Bebe Kinnett was interviewed and promoted the organization, the web site and Bright, Indiana.
b.) Vice President- No report.
c.) Treasurer – No report. Membership renewals have been coming in but the total was unavailable.
d.) Membership, Diane Bender –Approximately 33{7b8c989abf756bf7ce1f89de0a7bd15766f0afcab20f44905b10f83f92dee193} of the members have renewed this year. We also have 2 new members. Diane will continue to remind current members and encourage new members. After last month’s meeting, Kate Karaus delivered membership forms to numerous potential members.
e.) Publicity — Diane ordered the Coozies for advertising give-aways. There are 500 in blue/ yellow and 500 in yellow/blue. These will be distributed at the Festival and be available for businesses with storefronts.
f.) Festival – Diane has made arrangements for the dunking booth at the Bright Festival. She is in need of volunteers to man the booth. Terri Vetter is recruiting individuals willing to be the “Dunkee”. Members will have the opportunity to display business cards, flyers or coupons at the booth.
V. Open issues & New Business
• There was a discussion concerning making the Sept. meeting a social meeting rather than a business meeting. Members will be surveyed to determine interest and the time/day for the social event.
• Celeste Calvitto requested suggestions for the educational segment of future meetings.
• The members agreed to purchase a new banner for the Festival and other marketing venues.
• Member present introduced themselves and announced news concerning their business.
Next meeting will be at 8 am, Friday, July 8, 2011 at The Beacon.
VI. Adjournment
Bebe Kinnett adjourned the meeting at 9:05.
