Bright Area Business Association Meeting Minutes

- Call to order
Bebe Kinnett called to order the regular meeting of the Bright Area Business Association at 8 am on May 6, 2011 at The Beacon in Bright, Indiana.
- Roll call
The following people were in attendance: guest Jim Mansfield, Mansfield Insurance Agency; guest Mike Raftery, Comcast Business Class; members: Dale Lutz, Cornerstone Realty & Lutz Auctions; Diane Bender, Logan Supermart; Charlie Blankenship, Carousel Cleaners; Dan Cross, Dan Cross, CPA; Jim Kinnett, TKCG; Jody Blasdel, Tri-Township Water Corporation; Terri Vetter, The Beacon; Peggy Waltz, The Beacon; Celeste Calvitto, The Beacon; Kate Karaus, All Safe Security & T-Systems Electric, and Bebe Kinnett, Absolute Web Designs.

Minutes had been distributed by email and posted on the web site. Minutes were approved.
- Leadership Team Reports
a.) President — The website has received above average viewing. 45{7b8c989abf756bf7ce1f89de0a7bd15766f0afcab20f44905b10f83f92dee193} were looking for Bright Area Businesses, 30{7b8c989abf756bf7ce1f89de0a7bd15766f0afcab20f44905b10f83f92dee193} looking for a specific business, and 25{7b8c989abf756bf7ce1f89de0a7bd15766f0afcab20f44905b10f83f92dee193} were looking for information for the Bright Festival. 30{7b8c989abf756bf7ce1f89de0a7bd15766f0afcab20f44905b10f83f92dee193} of the viewers were staying up to 5 minutes or longer. The Beacon will continue to run the ad with our website address in The Beacon at no cost.

d.) Membership -Diane is visiting potential members and requesting renewals from current members.
e.) Publicity -Terri reported on promotional items. Ideas were water bottles–99¢, koozies–outside US 49¢, within US 70¢, LED keychains, fans–49¢. She stated that the price goes down with the increase in amount ordered and not to forget the set-up cost. Vendors were discussed. We agreed to purchase around 1000 koozies to reduce cost.
f.) Programs- Jim Mansfield, Mansfield Insurance Agency, guest and speaker, had an informational session on the Bright Fire & EMT Fundraiser Golf Outing, Friday, June 10, 2011 that he and Nick Roberts, Snappy Tomato are sponsoring. This is a chance for the fire and EMT people can come and relax. Last year they raised $1200. He is looking for additional sponsors for the outing. There are several ways to help– sponsoring holes, door prizes, sponsoring teams, being a participate to name a few.
Mike Raftery, Comcast Business Class, spoke briefly on assisting businesses on being a happy customer with Comcast. He is the local business problem solver for Comcast. We have not had a local representative in a long while and he is our contact and is willing to help your local business.
- Open issues & New Business
Continued conversations were about the Bright Festival and ways we can be of help. Dale Lutz brought up the idea of a dunking booth and a discussion on the pros and cons of the booth. He had great insight, since he had used it in the past. Teri is going to look into the possibility of running the dunking booth during the festival and report back to us.
Charlie Blankenship brought up that on Monday, May 23, Jewell Debonis a lobbyist will be at the Hollywood Casino for lunch and reporting to attendees on the most recent Legislative session.

Next meeting will be at 8 am, Friday, June 10, 2011 at The Beacon.
