BABA Meeting Friday, November 13, 2015

Bright Lion’s Club

CALL TO ORDER: Greg Gronwall called the meeting to order at 8:07 and welcomed attendees to the Bright Area Business Association.

INTRODUCTIONS AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF GUEST:

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Dan Cross reported that we had $200 in membership revenue.  There is a total balance of $6992.52 in the account after commitments.

GUEST SPEAKER:  Dearborn County Commissioner Mr. Kevin Lynch.  Mr. Lynch complimented the Bright Area Business Association by thanking us for all our organization does.  He also stated that “Bright is where Dearborn County’s future is”. He suggested that members call or email if they have questions or issues.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:  Minutes for October 2015 meeting were submitted by Lori Enright—Co-Secretary and are posted on the BABA website   www.brightareabusinesses.com

LEADERSHIP TEAM REPORTS:

President, Greg Gronwall requested that we support each other’s businesses.

Vice President & Publicity Chairperson, Jim Mansfield suggested that we share posts on Facebook. Elections for 2016 officers will be conducted next month.  We will need a new President and Treasurer in 2017.

Membership. We currently have 64 members. It was proposed and passed that the membership term will be Jan. through Dec. for 2016.  Any member that renews before Jan. 1 may renew for $25. Carie Vuko and Mark Lutz will be co-Membership Chairs.

Program Chairman, Celeste Calvitto announced the topics for upcoming meetings.  Dec –Christmas breakfast social, Jan. – Superintendent of Schools, Feb. – Fitness trainer Corey Johnson, March and April to be determined and May is dedicated to the finalization of the Golf Tournament plans.

Golf Tournament, Greg Gronwall announced the golf tournament is scheduled for May.  Because of the length of the event there may not be a guest speaker next year.

Festival, Diane Bender – No news.

OLD BUSINESS:

In a previous meeting signage was discussed and it was revisited this month.  A sign committee consisting of Celeste Calvito, Mark Lutz, Todd Fiess and Jim Kinnett will look at the options available for signs recognizing Bright and BABA

NEW BUSINESS:

It was voted and approved to donate $250 to the Lions Club for appreciation of using the facility for our meetings.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Celeste was awarded the “Heart of Gold Award” for Dearborn County.

Lions Club is offering flu shots Nov. 23
